Method Soap commercial

About a month ago I skated in a commercial for Method Soap up in Oakland, CA. The set was trippy and cool- in fact, it seemed like something straight out of Alice and Wonderland. I skated in a giant “sink” (aka mini-ramp) filled with over 2,000 balloons. Other parts of the set included a giant sponge/trampoline, a huge brite lite made out of handwash bottles, and a marching band in their underwear. Below are some pics and the “method clean happy” anthem which was just released earlier this month.

Marching band..

Big bright colors everywhere.

Neal Cordova, professional acrobat, dressed up and jumping as a giant nose.

Giant Lite-Brite being constructed out of soap bottles!

And it works!

Coolest dude ever! Meet Noah Applebaum.

Here’s the sink. And the 2,000 ballons!

They went everywhere!

Quite the set!

The final scene involved some confetti.

Skating the streets of NYC

I met some awesome new skate friends when I was in NYC last month. We spent a whole night skating through much of Manhattan, and I got to experience the city in a whole new way.. on my skateboard. I had to change out my Bones SPF 58mm wheels for some more street friendly (much larger) ones (thanks for loaning me your wheels, Cami!). Here are some photos from the night courtesy of my friend, Alt Trinh, of SheRed Magazine. Thanks for the hospitality Alt!

We started the evening off by visiting the 9/11 memorial. Here’s a pic with the NYPD in front of the new World Trade center building. Never forget!

Then I met up with these guys! NYC locals that took me on a skate adventure through the city streets.

Apparently my wheels were too small and hard to keep up, so Cami let me borrow some of her longboard wheels.

Then we hit the streets!

We caught a ride for a block or two behind a truck. The driver didn’t seem to mind.

A quick drive-by New Jersey!

Longboarding stunts by Sol and Cami.

Still going!

We skated for miles.. literally! Check out this awesome map Alt made of the night and where we skated:

We ended the night at an art show. Fun times!

Then I finally made it back to my hotel!

House of Vans • NYC

I went to New York City last week to help Vans host their “All Chicks Skate Jam” at the House of Vans, in Brooklyn. The event was a success and a lot of girls came out to skate.. Many of them hailing all the way from Maryland, New Jersey, and Connecticut for the session. We made sure to hook everyone up with Vans and hoopla goodies. The girls were stoked! A big thanks to Vans, Steve Van Doren, Dave, Frank, and Al!

Here are some pics I took at the event:

The calm before the storm.

Steve Van Doren and I helping set up before the girls arrived. Goodies for all!

These girls ripped!

Lorena Lima was there- Check out her skate school she runs in the city!

A little skate action from some video footage. Rock n’ roll on the quarter.

Group shot. Thanks to everyone for coming out!

House of Vans this Friday!

Vans is hosting an “All Chicks Skate Jam” at their NYC location (House of Vans) this Friday night. I will be there skating, hanging out, and giving away Vans and hoopla goodies to the girls along with Cara-Beth Burnside. If you’re in the area, come check it out!
